November 2012 Competition Results
Unfortunately; I wasn't able to make the November competition. Hence the late post! John came prepared and showed everyone how it's done by taking first and second in the Imperials style competition while Dustin came out on top of a couple of Terry's fantastic beers. . For winning first place; John took home $45 in gift

$25 of which was donated by them. Thanks again to The Omaha Tap House, the Union Pacific Ties Social Club, and Cornhusker Beverage

October 2012 Club Competition results
We had a small turnout at Lucky Bucket, but that wasn't really a bad thing. With only five beers to judge; we were all able to fully enjoy and provide ample feedback on each. Lucky Bucket also shared a few of their remaining bottles of their single batch black IPA which was absolutely delicious! They definitely need to make that again! Phil took first place for the style competition and received
$45 in gift
certificates from Cornhusker Beverage,
$25 of which was donated by them. Don took second place and received a six pack donated by Lucky Bucket as well as a pound of Vanguard hops donated by Phil. Joel took third and received a tumbler glass from Lucky Bucket. Thanks again to Lucky Bucket and Cornhusker Beverage
for the small but fun and successful event! Style Competition

World Beer Festival - Ralston 2012
All About Beer Magazine is putting on the first annual World Beer Festival - Ralston on November 3rd in the brand spanking new Ralston Arena. They are asking for knowledgeable volunteers to be pourers. If you know the differences between styles then you are knowledgeable! I'm sure you've all been to events and asked the pourer about the beer and the only thing they could tell you is its color and whether they like it or not. As this is supposed to be an educational event; the organizers want a bit more than that. Anybody reading this should definitely be able to provide that! So hop on over to the sign-up page and get signed up! |

March 2013 Club Competition
Notice: Venue changed
Hosted by
Saturday, March 30, 2013 2:00pm - 4:00pm
For the first time in a very long time, we're holding our monthly meeting on a Saturday. We had to do a last minute venue change and NBC stepped up to the plate to save us. Be sure to show your appreciation by eating their food (which one of our members is now in charge of) and drinking their beer! We will be up on the mezzanine.
Our
themed (and prize-eligible) competition entries by RRBC members will be Light Lagers & Wood Aged. If you don't have a
brew that fits this category or you're not a RRBC member, the Best-Damn-Beer competition is always open to ANY beer
style as well as any brewer whether you are a RRBC member or not. A
reminder to those who would like to bring beer to the competition for
the first
time; bring either a growler, a six-pack of 12oz bottles, or 2-3 bomber
bottles. Please note: Due to a recent law change, our club competitions now have to be private events. Members are already covered under this. Anyone that is not a member but planning on participating, please sign up here so we can put you on the list. |

Nebraska Shoot-Out 2013
Sunday, April 28, 2013
12:00pm - 4:00pm
Nebraska Shoot-Out 2013 is now officially scheduled! Crescent Moon is our host this year and has agreed to open its doors to us on a day they are normally closed. They will be staffed to be able to serve drinks and the kitchen will be open with a limited menu. Our apologies to the public as this is a private event. The event is limited to brew club members across Nebraska. If you're not a member of a brew club, hurry up and join one!! Only Shootout entrants and fellow brew club members as well as BJCP judges are invited. Here are the categories for this year's Shoot-Out: Even though the event is now officially scheduled, we still need a couple things. BJCP certified judges, please contact Vinie if you are interested in judging. Craft beer bars, pubs, and taverns, we could use a few drop-off locations for entries. Rather than having the entries due the day of the event and forcing everyone to show up at 9am when the judging starts, we will collect entries from drop-off locations and have the judges do their thing starting at 9am then let the event itself be all about announcing the winners, socializing, and having fun!! The entry rules, scoring, and prizes document is attached below. Please be sure to read it thoroughly. Once drop-off locations have been determined, the document will be updated with that information |

January 2013 Club Competition
Hosted by
We're going to kick off 2013 at The Lauter Tun where we have been at least a couple times before. We normally hold the events on Mondays at The Lauter Tun when they are closed but we're doing it on Thursday this time. This will give us more of a chance to involve the public. Food is not served at The Lauter Tun, but there is a Jimmy Johns pretty much next door and you're welcome to order in from other places as well.
Our
themed (and prize-eligible) competition entries by RRBC members will be Porters & Stouts. If you don't have a
brew that fits this category or you're not a RRBC member, the Best-Damn-Beer competition is always open to ANY beer
style as well as any brewer whether you are a RRBC member or not. A
reminder to those who would like to bring beer to the competition for
the first
time; bring either a growler, a six-pack of 12oz bottles, or 2-3 bomber
bottles. |
