Hops Garden (Mission completed!)- by Brian Schlueter
There's nothing like a bitter beer and hops are what do the job, so we just planted Cascade & Nugget Hop Rhizomes, we're growing our own... Hops give beer that bitter flavor. To keep the taste of beer the same from one brewer to another, they use a recipe that will include the amount of bittering units used in the batch. The International Bittering Units were developed to target a certain range of alpha acids that come from hops. Cascade hops are generally around 5%, whereas Nugget hops top out at 15%...Folks that love hoppy, bitter beer are generally referred to as "Hopheads"...To support Earth Day, a rain barrel, pump & automated timer delivers the right amount of water and nutrients...
